Editorial Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This page explains how Crestline Money researches, writes, checks and updates our content about everyday household money. It also explains how we earn affiliate commission, so you can judge our guides for yourself.
Crestline Money provides general information only. Nothing on this site is personalised advice or a recommendation tailored to you. Please read our financial disclaimer and check official sources before making any money decision.
1. Who we write for
Our guides are written for UK adults who manage household money and want clear, practical guidance without jargon. Where a technical term is unavoidable, we explain it the first time we use it.
2. Our standards
- We use plain British English and pounds sterling (£).
- We use UK context, such as the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), ISAs and credit reference agencies (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion), where relevant.
- We do not use hype, urgency or language that promises fast or easy wealth.
- We do not promise returns, outcomes or guarantees, and we do not describe any product as having no risk.
- We do not label products as the best or top-ranked unless we can show the basis of the ranking, and we state that basis.
- We recommend checking official sources, such as GOV.UK, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) register and the lender or provider’s own terms, before acting.
3. How we research
- We start from a clear question a reader would plausibly ask, such as how to build an emergency fund.
- We check claims against primary sources where possible, including government guidance, regulator publications and published provider terms.
- We note the date of each source we rely on. Rules, rates and fees change, so we re-check figures before publishing.
- Where sources disagree or evidence is limited, we say so rather than picking the most convenient answer.
4. How we write and review
- Each guide has a named author or editorial team listed on the page.
- Figures, examples and calculator explanations are checked against the source before publication.
- Examples are illustrative. Where we use a sample household budget or loan, we show the assumptions so you can change them.
- Tools such as the budget planner, loan / EMI calculator, savings goal and credit card payoff tool are provided to help you explore numbers. They do not give personalised recommendations.
5. How we earn money
Crestline Money earns affiliate commission. This means that if you click some links on our site and then take out a product or sign up for a service, we may receive a payment from the provider.
- Affiliate links are identified on the page or near the link.
- Commission does not change the price you pay.
- We do not accept payment in exchange for a favourable editorial opinion.
- Where we receive commission, we explain how it affects what we feature. We include products where the terms suit a general audience, and we show costs, limits and drawbacks where we know them.
- Some products may not be available to everyone, and some providers may not pay us at all. Our content does not depend on commission being paid.
6. Updates and corrections
- We review pages when rules, rates or provider terms change, and we show a “last updated” date.
- If we find an error, we correct it and, for material errors, add a short note explaining the change.
- To report an error, contact us through the details on our contact page. We aim to review reports promptly and will update the page if the report is accurate.
7. Limits of our content
- We cannot know your full financial position, so our guides cannot tell you what is right for you.
- Eligibility, pricing and protection depend on the provider and your circumstances. Check the FSCS protection limits and the provider’s terms yourself.
- Credit scores and reports come from credit reference agencies and each can differ. We cannot guarantee any score change.
8. Questions about this policy
If something on this page is unclear, please get in touch. We will update this policy when our processes change.
